About the Trainer

Mikayla is the lead trainer at Wild Things Dog Training. Her journey into the dog world began with boarding services and walking services through Rover and Wag in the Bay Area for 3 years. During this time, she learned how to adapt and handle dogs with a variety of temperaments.

From there, she found her passion for working with dogs when she adopted Jupiter, at the local Humane Society of Silicon Valley. Jupiter had some dog reactivity issues and through Mikayla’s search for solutions she learned how to work and train not just her own dog but other dogs as well. When she discovered her new passion for training she did an internship at a local Bay Area training facility where she learned how to work with behavior modification dogs. After completing her internship she went on to become a dog trainer and has had the opportunity to work with dogs of different breeds, ages, and personalities.

She is currently attending San Jose State University where she studies Aerospace Engineering. While she is going to school, she decoy’s for local police K9 Units and is a certified decoy for the the Protection K9 Sport Association. She currently works with Spectrum K9 and local Police K9 units in Santa Clara, Campbell, Fremont, Newark, Novato, Richmond and Yuba County.

Mikayla not only specializes in working with behavior modification dogs but also in dog nutrition. While working at Pet Food Express for 2 years she went though courses that involved intense training on dog nutrition with kibble, raw, home cooked and many other forms of dog food. From there, she became a nutrition specialist for dogs and cats.

She has worked with many individuals and their dogs to focus on enriching their dogs lives through nutrition, mental stimulation, relationships and overall health. Mikayla’s approach to training is holistic and she ensures to cover all aspects of your pups life so that you can be successful as a dog owner and be the true pack leader. She wants to share her same successful experience with others so they can feel confident with their dogs and have a clear trusting communication system.
